France: Opened Consultation on Arcom Order on List of Services Classified as Services of General Interest

On 12 June 2023, the French Audiovisual and Digital Communication Regulatory Authority (Arcom) opened a public consultation on the scope of services that would qualify as services of general interest until 13 July 2023. This consultation is conducted within the framework of article 20-7 of the law of September 30, 1986, which provides that services of general interest are understood as services published by specific organisations and by the TV5 channel for the exercise of their public service missions. The consultation aimed to include other services of audiovisual communication in a proportionate manner, considering their contribution to the pluralistic nature of currents and thought and opinion and to cultural diversity.
