On 8 February 2024, the French Data Protection Authority (CNIL) announced an investigation into the data collection practices of popular online platforms used by minors. The investigation will focus on whether age control mechanisms are implemented, whether security measures are in place, and whether there is adherence to the principle of data minimisation. This investigation is part of the CNIL priority themes of 2024.
