Issued AGCOM order for the blocking of 65 DNS and 8 IP addresses due to illegal streaming

On 2 February 2024, the Italian Communications Regulatory Authority (AGCOM) activated the Piracy Shield platform, blocking 65 Domain Name System (DNS) and 8 IP addresses that were illegally broadcasting Serie A football matches. The action was taken as per the procedure outlined in Law 93 of 14 July 2023 and AGCOM's regulation on online copyright protection (resolution no. 680/13/CONS, as amended by resolution no. 189/23/CONS). The regulation allows rights holders to report services to be blocked during the live transmission of a sporting event. Upon receiving the ticket created by the rights holder, Internet service providers proceed with blocking the pirate site within 30 minutes.
