Bahrain: Announced Digital Cooperation Organization Generative Artificial Intelligence Initiative

On 31 January 2024, the Saudi Arabian Minister of Communications and Information Technology announced the launch of the Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI) initiative for all members of the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO). The initiative, under the International Centre for Artificial Intelligence Research and Ethics (ICAIRE), aims to support generative AI research, raise awareness of generative AI ethics, and develop and govern generative AI policies. It also seeks to promote and support generative AI capacity building. The announcement was made during the third General Assembly meeting of the DCO, chaired by the Kingdom of Bahrain.
