Adopted ministerial decision (No. 2024/34) concerning executive regulations for the Personal Data Protection Law

On 28 January 2024, the Oman Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology adopted the Ministerial Decision No. 2024/34 concerning the executive regulations for the Personal Data Protection Law. The regulations define and concretise certain aspects of the Personal Data Protection Law regarding procedural aspects, user rights, data processing of sensitive data, especially that of minors and obligations of the controller and processor. Further, the regulations stipulate the relevant steps in case of a data breach, specify tasks and responsibilities of the Personal Data Protection Officer, regulate cross-border data transfer and define penalties and complaints. The regulations enter into force upon its publication in the Official Gazette.
