Implemented Voluntary Code of Good Practice on Transparency in Music Streaming

On 31 July 2024, the UK Intellectual Property Office (UKIPO) implemented the Voluntary Code of Good Practice on Transparency in Music Streaming, which is agreed on by trade body signatories from the music industry. Under the Code, digital service providers (DSPs) are required to provide metadata regarding streaming to license right holders. Further, DSPs should outline how their services function. The Code will not be legally binding, and issues arising under it are to be resolved bilaterally between parties or with the mediation of trade bodies.
