United Kingdom: Adopted Information Commissioner's Office guide to sharing information to safeguard children

On 14 September 2023, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) adopted a guide to sharing information to safeguard children aimed at promoting responsible data sharing. The guide aims to clarify the data protection laws and the legal framework that enables the sharing of personal information when necessary to protect children and young people. The guide includes 10 steps that organisations can follow, including information on risk assessment, data sharing agreements, the lawful basis for data sharing and existing code of practice.
