United Arab Emirates: Adopted Law Establishing the Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology Council

On 22 January 2024, the President of the UAE issued a law establishing the Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology Council (AIATC). The AIATC will be responsible for developing and implementing policies and strategies related to research, infrastructure, and investments in artificial intelligence and advanced technology in Abu Dhabi. The council will develop financing, investment, and research plans for AI and advanced technology in collaboration with local and international partners. It will also identify investment priorities and mechanisms for research and development in AI and advanced technology, and initiate, implement, and activate investment and research initiatives in AI and advanced technology, developing supporting digital infrastructure. The establishment of the AIATC is part of Abu Dhabi's strategy to position the emirate as a world-leading hub for investments, partnerships, and talent in the sector.
