Passed EU regulation 2020/1056 on electronic freight transport information including Data protection regulation by Council of the European Union

On 7 April 2020, the Council of the European Union passed EU regulation 2020/1056 on electronic freight transport information (eFTI) on first reading. The regulation requires eFTI platforms to treat personal data in compliance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 and commercial data in a way that ensures its confidentiality. In addition, eFTI platforms shall keep logs of changes and deletions as well as of the natural or legal person responsible for each input.
