Published Dutch Cabinet Vision on Generative AI

On 18 January 2024, the Dutch Cabinet published its vision for generative AI, highlighting the importance of addressing the opportunities and challenges posed by this technology. The Cabinet underscores the need for responsible AI development while ensuring public values and prosperity. Furthermore, the Cabinet aims to foster an AI ecosystem that promotes innovation while maintaining digital strategic autonomy. To implement this vision, the Cabinet plans to assess AI's impact on productivity, educate citizens on data protection, explore a secure AI testing facility, promote collaborations, and establish a validation team for AI applications which would assess AI models, for example regarding non-discrimination. In addition, the Cabinet states, that the Netherlands seeks to lead in the responsible use of generative AI.
