China: Adopted Notice to Strengthen the Standardisation of the Gig Economy Market

On 26 December 2023, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of China adopted an order to strengthen the standardisation of the gig economy market. The notice aims to integrate the gig economy market into the employment public service system, providing free, sustainable, and standardised basic employment public services to all flexible employment personnel. The regulation also emphasises the need to improve the basic services of the gig economy market, including job matching services, career guidance services, employment skills training, and rights protection guidance services. Furthermore, the regulation outlines the requirements for the construction and operation of the gig economy market, including the establishment of a comprehensive management system, the strengthening of supervision and inspection, and the promotion of the overall service level of the gig economy market.
