On 4 August 2021, the Brazilian Superior Electoral Court (TSE) adopted an ordinance (no. 510) establishing a permanent program to combat disinformation in electoral justice. The TSE recognises that disinformation can pose a threat to democracy and have a negative effect on the credibility of institutions participating in the electoral process. Further, the TSE highlights that the events in the last two election cycles affected the electoral process, its bodies and actors, and the electronic voting system. The program aims to handle disinformation related to the Electoral Justice and its members, the electronic voting system and the electoral process as a whole. The ordinance enters into force upon its publication.
