Introduced Law of Bases and Starting Points for the Freedom of Argentina including Competition Authority Governance

On 27 December 2023, the Law of Bases and Starting Points for the Freedom of Argentina was introduced into the Congress of Argentina, which includes a proposal to amend the Act on the Defence of Competition. The proposed law foresees the creation of a new institutional framework for competition authority governance, including the Market and Competition Agency and the Competition Defense Court. The Agency will have the power to investigate conduct and approve, reject or impose conditions on economic concentrations. The Court will resolve cases of conduct and review the decisions taken by the Agency regarding economic concentrations.
