Description

Introduced AI Foundation Model Transparency Act

On 22 December 2023, the Bill to direct the Federal Trade Commission to establish standards for making publicly available information about the training data and algorithms used in artificial intelligence foundation models (AI Foundation Model Transparency Act) was introduced in the United States Congress. The Act would direct the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), in consultation with the National Institute of Standards and Technology, the Copyright Office, and the Office of Science and Technology Policy, to establish transparency requirements to mandate developers and deployers of foundation models to publish information on the training data and algorithms used in their AI models. Furthermore, the developers and deployers would be required to provide consumers with information on the model training mechanisms and specify if user data is collected in inference.
