Issued ruling in AGCOM investigation into Twitch's compliance with gambling ads ban

On 5 December 2023, the Italian Authority for Communications Guarantees (AGCOM) issued a EUR 900'000 fine against Twitch for violations of a gambling advertising ban, per art. 9 of “Decreto Dignità”. Twitch was found to have hosted and promoted content advertising online gambling as part of its verified affiliate and partner programs. The company was held liable for videos from six out of the twenty-six verified channels publishing illicit content, by virtue of their targeting an Italian audience. In addition to the fine, Twitch is now required to take down unlawful channels and content.
