Opened consultation on draft Measures for the Administration of Online Games including operational licence requirement

On 22 January 2024, the National Press and Publication Administration (NPPA) closed the public consultation on the draft Measures for the Administration of Online Games, including operational licence requirements. The draft measures outline the standards and procedures for companies to obtain permission to publish and operate online games in China. In particular, in order to obtain a permit, the companies are required to have a defined unit name, fixed workplace, designated platforms, content review system, necessary technical equipment within China, and qualified personnel. The legal representative must be a Chinese citizen with professional qualifications.
