Published settlement agreement in lawsuit against Google Play Store

On 18 December 2023, the settlement agreement between Google and over 30 US states and consumers was published. Under the settlement, Google is required to contribute USD 630 million to a fund designated for consumers and an additional USD 70 million to a fund earmarked for states. Depending on their spending between August 2016 and September 2023 on Google Play, eligible consumers will receive at least USD 2. The settlement is contingent on receiving final approval from a judge. The action was brought against Play Store for violation of federal antitrust rules by overcharging customers.
