Issued decision regarding GVH investigation into Telemarketing International Kft. and Mediashop GmbH concerning misleading advertisements

On 15 December 2023, the Hungarian Competition Authority (GVH) issued a decision regarding the investigation into Telemarketing International Kft. and Mediashop GmbH concerning misleading advertisements. The investigation revealed that several products were marketed using misleading communication practices. These practices included time-limited discounts, price advantages over competitors, the nature of “gift” accessories, and the functionality of certain products. The companies involved cooperated with the investigation, acknowledged the violations, ceased the practices, and provided detailed remedial measures. The GVH has imposed a fine of HUF 113 million and will continue to monitor compliance with mandatory ex-post requirements.
