On 13 December 2023, the Bill T/6547, which concerns the online accommodation booking market was introduced in the Hungarian Parliament. The Bill was initiated in response to the investigation of the Hungarian Competition Authority (GHV). The Bill aims to ensure that contract terms are clear and understandable, without any misleading or unfair clauses. Furthermore, it seeks to prohibit price parity clauses in online accommodation platforms. These clauses, which require accommodations to offer their lowest prices on these platforms, are seen as hindering competition and possibly leading to higher consumer prices. To ensure transparency in accommodation platform rankings, platforms must disclose the criteria for the ranking. Additionally, online service providers should establish efficient and fair complaint and dispute resolution mechanisms for both consumers and providers.
