Ireland: Introduced Digital Service Bill 2023

On 5 December 2023, the Digital Service Bill 2023 was introduced into the Dáil. The Bill aims to address the obligations imposed by the EU through the Digital Service Act (DSA). The Bill seeks to establish a procedure for the investigation of infringements of the DSA and a notification process. The legislation strives to create a mechanism for investigation and notification of infringements of the DSA. The financial administrative penalty may not exceed 6% of the annual turnover. Additionally, the process for appealing against any decision is explicated.
