Introduced Act concerning the classification of virtual currencies (Bill A 5747)

On 30 November 2023, the Act concerning the classification of virtual currencies (Bill A5747) was introduced to the New Jersey Assembly. The Act would classify "all virtual currencies issued and sold to institutional investors as securities", therefore making them subject to the New Jersey Uniform Securities Law. An institutional investor is defined by the Act as "a company or organization that invests money on behalf of other people".
