Mexico: Introduced Bill amending Federal Labor Law regarding social security for digital platform workers

On 28 November 2023, the Bill amending Federal Labor Law regarding social security for digital platform workers was introduced in the Chamber of Deputies of Mexico. The Bill defines digital platform work, expands the social security measures under labour law to digital platform workers and establishes rules regarding the counting of working hours. Furthermore, the Bill includes provisions aiming at preventing abuse and respecting every worker's dignity and clarifies that tips are not part of the salary and cannot be retained by the employer.
