Entry into force with grace period of Data Protection Act 2020 including business registration requirement

On 1 December 2023, the Jamaican Data Protection Act, 2020 entered into force. The Act requires data controllers to register with the Office of the Information Commissioner (OIC). The OIC has determined that all data controllers will have a six-month grace period to comply with the registration requirement under the Act.
