Russia: Issued fines on foreign social media platforms for breach of Federal Law No. 530-FZ on content moderation

On 4 December 2023, Roskomnadzor issued fines on Google, Tik Tok, Telegram, Twitch, Pinterest, and Likee for failing to comply with Federal Law No. 530-FZ. Roskomnadzor identified several violations related to the inadequate online content moderation practices implemented by these foreign social networks and failure to publish necessary information in accordance with the law, including the obligation to publish annual reports regarding the content flagged, their content moderation activities and information removed.
