Implemented amendment to Telecommunication Ordinance including cybersecurity measures

On 1 January 2023, the amendment of the Swiss Telecommunication Ordinance entered into force. In particular, the amendment requires internet service providers to increase preventive cyber security measures and establish a procedure to communicate cyber attacks to Federal authorities if these affect more than 10'000 people (30'000 in previous drafts). Moreover, 5G critical infrastructures shall comply with recognized security standards and exercise their network management operations in Switzerland, the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area.
