Slovakia: Announced Antimonopoly Office investigation into Emirates Telecommunications Group Company PJSC's indirect acquisition of control over O2

On 14 November 2023, the Antimonopoly Office of the Slovak Republic (PMÚ) announced that it opened an investigation into the merger regarding Emirates Telecommunications Group Company PJSC's indirect acquisition of control over the telecommunication group O2. O2 Slovakia, headquartered in Bratislava, offers mobile services in Slovakia. In particular, the PMÚ has initiated an administrative procedure to evaluate a merger involving the acquisition of indirect exclusive control by the Emirates Telecommunications Group Company PJSC over PPF Telecom Group BV. This acquisition extends control to the Slovak telecommunications company O2. Both companies operate in the telecommunications sector. Third parties are encouraged to submit their opinions, objections, and information related to the merger to the PMÚ, allowing for timely processing during the initial assessment phase.
