Description

Consultation opened on draft decree amending decree No. 72 including licensing requirement

On 06 July 2021 the Ministry of Information of Communications ('MIC') of Vietnam opened the consultation on the draft decree amending decree No. 72/2013/ND-CP on management, provision and use of internet services and online information. Among others, it is also foreseen in the new draft that social networks will have to apply for a license of the MIC if they have more than 10'000 visitors per month. Social networking sites with less than 10'000 visitors still have to notify the Authority of Broadcasting and Electronic Information. Regardless of the number of visitors per month, all social networking sites are required to get a license from the MIC in case they want to provide live streaming or other revenue-generating services on their platform. The consultation will close on 05 September 2021.
