Description

Issued Office of Competition and Consumer Protection ruling in the investigation into e-commerce platform Bak Drop over alleged unfair and misleading business practices

On September 25, 2023, the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) fined the e-commerce platform Bak Drop for engaging in deceptive online shopping practices. The UOKiK imposed a fine of PLN 100’710 on the platform due to unfair practices observed on the websites bigotka.pl and arkadie.pl. These websites failed to provide consumers with information that they were intermediaries in the online shopping process. Additionally, they used a misleading countdown timer tactic to create a false sense of urgency for daily discounts, pressuring consumers into quick purchasing decisions. The decision is open for appeal to the Court of Competition and Consumer Protection.
