On 11 January 2023, the United Kingdom Department for Science, Innovation and Technology closed the public consultation on the prospective regulations establishing eligible entity criteria and procedures for the Online Safety Act's super-complaints function. Under the super-complaints procedure, expert groups, children's charities and free speech advocates would be able to make direct complaints to the Office of Communications. During the consultation, the department aims to gather information concerning the criteria to determine what entities should be allowed to make super-complaints and the procedure to be followed to address illegal content.
