Description

Announced FTC Exploratory Challenge regarding AI-enabled Voice Cloning

On 16 November 2023, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) announced an exploratory challenge regarding AI-enabled Voice Cloning. The FTC recognises the potential harms of AI-enabled voice cloning, such as the impersonation of family, friends, or businesses to obtain personal data or other deceiving uses. The FTC aims to engage companies to prevent, monitor, and evaluate the malicious use of AI-enabled voice cloning technology through a product, policy, or procedure. The FTC asks for contributions from stakeholders regarding the prevention or authentication, real-time detection or monitoring and post-use evaluation of voice cloning technologies. The FTC accepts submissions from 2 January until 12 January 2024.
