United States of America: Introduced Personal Data Privacy Act (SB 659)

On 9 November 2023, the Personal Data Privacy Act (SB 659) was introduced to the Michigan Senate. The Bill establishes privacy rights for consumers. It requires data handlers and processors to provide notices to consumers and prohibits certain acts regarding the collection, processing, sale, sharing, and retention of personal data. Furthermore, the Bill establishes standards and practices regarding personal data usage and would require data brokers' registration.
