Announced EU Commission investigation into Snap's compliance with requirements regarding protection of minors under the DSA

On 10 November 2023, the European Commission sent a request for information to Snap regarding risk assessments and mitigation measures adopted under the Digital Service Act (DSA) to address the protection of minors online. The requested information from Snap is necessary for assessing the effectiveness of measures employed to protect minors online, including their mental and physical health of minors. Snap is required to provide information on the measures adopted by 1 December 2023. In case of non-compliance, the Commission may issue fines in accordance with Article 74 of DSA for inadequate, false, or misleading information or initiate further proceedings under Article 66 of DSA.
