The Free Trade Agreement between UK and EU enters into force. The agreement covers a broad range of areas including data protection. The Agreement establishes that the transfer of personal data from the EU to the UK will constitute a transfer of personal data to a third country. For this reason, the EU has to adopt a decision on the UK adequacy of the data protection regime. On the other side, the UK will keep considering EU countries' laws as adequate for the transfer of personal data from the UK. Moreover, the GDPR "one stop shop" mechanism is no longer valid in the UK in the case of data protection investigations that involve multiple countries. Finally, the eCommerce Directive will no longer apply to the UK.
