Ireland: Opened investigation into Airbnb regarding alleged violation of the GDPR

On 7 October 2022, the Irish Data Protection Commission (DPC) initiated an investigation into Airbnb Ireland following a complaint alleging Airbnb's inadequate compliance with its obligations under the GDPR. The accusations specifically point to Airbnb's failure to appropriately fulfil an erasure request, the unlawful retention of personal data, non-compliance with the data minimisation principle, and a breach of transparency and information provision principles.
