Filed FTC public lawsuit against NTS regarding deceptive business practices

On 19 May 2020, the American Federal Trade Commission (FTC) filed a public lawsuit against NTS IT Care (NTS) regarding deceptive business practices. The public lawsuit was filed against the NTS and the CEO, respectively. The FTC claims that NTS operated a technical support scheme where pop-up alerts would inform internet users that a virus infected their computer. The consumers were then instructed to call a phone number where they were deceived into buying technical support services based on false computer diagnostics and false claims to be affiliated with Microsoft, Apple, or other well-known technology companies. This deceptive practice has resulted in approximately USD 5 million gains for NTS. The FTC also included Jagmeet Virk Singh, the founder and CEO of NTS, in the lawsuit due to his control or authority to control the practices.
