Description

Closed FAS investigation into Megafon, Beeline and Tele2 concerning fees for distributing Internet traffic from mobile devices

On 30 October 2023, the Russian Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) closed the investigation into telecommunication providers Megafon, Beeline and Tele2 following their compliance with the ruling issued in September 2023 requiring them to suspend fees for distributing Internet traffic from mobile devices. The FAS reported that Megafon has removed the fee for internet traffic distribution in all their plans starting from 23 October 2023. Tele2 will discontinue the fee for new customer connections from 22 November 2023 and for all existing customers from 19 December 2023. Beeline is phasing out fees for plans with limited internet packages by 1 December 2023. MTS has assured the FAS that their fee collection practices for internet traffic distribution do not harm subscriber interests.
