Issued G7 Trade Ministers Statement including Digital Trade

On 29 October 2023, the G7 Trade Ministers issued a joint statement addressing, among other issues, digital trade. They stressed the importance of promoting the Data Free Flow with Trust (DFFT) framework and opposing digital protectionism. In addition, the G7 Trade Ministers highlighted the need for high-standard rules to govern global digital trade, with a goal of making substantial progress through the WTO Joint Statement Initiative (JSI) on E-Commerce by the end of 2023. Furthermore, they expressed concerns about unjustified data localisation measures, emphasising their commitment to addressing these issues and supporting the OECD's efforts in this regard.
