Russia: Adopted Roskomnadzor order including Go Travel Un Limited to the list of foreign hosting providers subject to local operation requirements under Federal Law No. 236-FZ

On 26 October 2023, the Russian Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media (Roskomnadzor) expanded its list of foreign companies subject to local operation requirements under Federal Law No. 236-FZ by including Go Travel Un Limited. This company owns the Aviasales airline ticket search service. Go Travel Un is now subject to the local operation requirements because it disseminates information in Russian on its platform, with a daily audience of over 500'000 users in the Russian Federation. Under Federal Law No. 236-FZ, Go Travel Un must fulfil certain obligations, including opening a branch or representative office in Russia, posting an electronic feedback form for Russian users on their website, registering a personal account on the Roskomnadzor website for communication with authorities, and restricting access to content that violates Russian law. Failure to comply with these requirements may lead to Roskomnadzor taking legal measures against the company.
