Announced inquiry on addictive design of online services and consumer protection regulations

On 20 April 2023, the Internal Market and Consumer Protection Committee of the European Parliament announced the launch of an inquiry on the regulations on the design of online services concerning consumer protection. The Committee will investigate the potential for addiction to certain digital services and if there is an adverse effect on mental health. The Committee will draft a report based on its findings and issue recommendations for improving regulation in this area.
