On 23 October 2023, Senacon, Brazil's Consumer Protection Authority, opened an investigation into pharmacy company RaiaDrogasil's alleged collection of health-related information without explicit consent from customers. RaiaDrogasil was requested to provide a clarification about the collection of sensitive health data which, according to Senacon, was used in to carry out targeted advertising. RaiaDrogasil is required to answer the request within 10 days from the knowledge of notification, providing information on their data collection procedures, their mechanism for ensuring consent, and whether proper information regarding processing practices is provided prior to data collection.
