Description

Adopted US-Singapore Critical and Emerging Technology (CET) Dialogue including establishment of AI Governance Group

On 12 October 2023, the United States and Singapore established the Critical and Emerging Technology (CET) Dialogue, which complements the existing Partnership for Growth and Innovation and Cyber Dialogue. The parties aim to enhance bilateral research collaboration focusing on safety and security. Furthermore, the parties stated that the US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and Singapore's Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) will build a bilateral AI Governance Group. Following the CET Dialogue, the parties stated that NIST and IMDA mapped the similarities and differences between the US AI Risk Management and Singapore AI Verify to clarify the existing requirements and guidelines in both jurisdictions. The AI Governance Group would complement the US Voluntary AI Commitments and develop principles to be incorporated into a potential multilateral AI Code of Conduct.
