On 5 October 2023, Bill 466 relating to consumer data protection was introduced in the Wisconsin Assembly. The Bill would apply to controllers and processors of personal data of at least 100'000 consumers, or controllers and processors deriving at least 50 percent of their gross revenue from the sale of personal data of at least 25'000 consumers. Consumers would have the right to request confirmation whether or not a controller is processing their personal data and to access such data, to correct inaccuracies in the personal data, to delete personal data, to obtain a copy of the personal data, and to opt out of the processing of the personal data for purposes of targeted advertising or the sale of personal data. Breaches of the obligations would be sanctioned with a payment of USD 7'500 per violation.
