United Kingdom: Issued UK-US Joint Statement on combatting the proliferation of AI-generated child sexual abuse images

On 27 September 2023, the UK Home Office and the US Department of Homeland Security issued a joint statement on bilateral cooperation to combat the proliferation of AI-generated child sexual abuse images. The joint statement calls for innovation and cooperation of law enforcement to combat the dissemination of this online content and mitigate the risks of Generative AI. Further, both parties emphasised the need for social media companies to prioritise child safety.
