On 30 August 2023, the German government announced the Federal Transparency Act (Bundestransparenzgesetz) in the context of the launch of its National Data Strategy. Under the Act, several Information Acts would be unified. Existing individual legal entitlements to the authorities' data are maintained, and new legal rights are introduced. In particular, individuals would have the right to sue for the already existing authority duty to provide reusable, machine-readable, interoperable, and open license data (Open Data).
