Announced Employee Data Protection Act (Beschäftigtendatenschutzgesetz)
On 30 August 2023, the German government announced a new Employee Data Protection Act (Beschäftigtendatenschutzgesetz) in the context of the launch of its National Data Strategy. The Act will be published in the fourth quarter of 2023. The aim of this new Act would be to provide legal clarity for employers and employees, as well as effectively protect the employees' personal rights.
