On 30 August 2023, the German Government adopted its new National Data Strategy (Nationale Datenstrategie). The Data Strategy aims to strengthen data interoperability and promote responsible and effective data use to optimise economic potential and improve competitiveness. The Data Strategy also aims to create new guiding principles for future data policies and emphasises the role of data in innovation, transparency, and societal progress. In addition, it addresses data quality and diversity issues, including gender and age-related data gaps.
