Switzerland: Implemented Amendment to the Housing Regulation restricting online platform rentals

On 7 March 2018, the Geneva conseil d'etat implemented the amendments to the Implementation Regulation of the Geneva Law on Demolition, Transformation, and Renovation of Residential Houses (Règlement d’application de la loi sur les démolitions, transformations et rénovations de maisons d’habitation, or RDTR). The new article puts a restriction of 90 days on the rental duration of residential properties offered via online platforms. Additionally, the Canton of Geneva has created a dedicated section on its website, offering easily understandable explanations of all the legal provisions applicable to short-term rentals via booking platforms.
