Introduced Bill regulating access to extremely violent electronic games (PL 2326/2023)

On 3 May 2023, the Bill regulating access to extremely violent electronic games (PL 2326/2023) was introduced in the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies. The Bill would amend the Civil Rights Framework for the Internet ( Law No. 12.965), establishing principles, rights, and responsibilities for Internet use in Brazil. In particular, the Bill would prohibit entities, including online platforms, from selling games of extreme violence to individuals under 18 years old. The games of extreme violence are considered those that include elements of violence, self-harm, torture, incitement to suicide, mistreatment of individuals and animals, and support ideologies promoting segregation, discrimination, or the elimination of people based on ethnicity, race, colour or religion.
