Brazil: Introduced Bill requiring age verification mechanism (PL 2747/2023)

On 23 May 2023, the Bill requiring an age verification mechanism (PL 2747/2023) was introduced in the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies. The Bill aims to amend the Civil Rights Framework for the Internet (No. 12.965). The Civil Rights Framework for the Internet (No. 12.965) establishes principles, rights, and responsibilities for Internet use in Brazil. The Bill would require to verify the users' age and allow the account registration of users under 12 years old only with their parent or guardian authorisation.
