AAIP publishes recommendations concerning the protection of personal data on video calling platforms

The Agencia de Acceso a la Información Pública (AAIP) publishes its recommendations on how to protect personal data on video calling platforms. The AAIP recommends users of video calling platforms to read the privacy policies and conditions and informs them that companies are obliged to ask for written consent in order to process personal data. Also, the AAIP suggests that on some occasions, when the product is "free", companies may use user's personal data for other purposes, whereby they have the duty to inform the user in advance what these other purposes are. Further, the AAIP states that if a video call is recorded, the recorded user needs to be informed explicitly and specifically. Finally, the AAIP recommends the use of platforms that allow users to put a password to the rooms or calls, as well as an identification (ID) that only the people invited to participate have.
